Coaching

Business and Lifestyle Coaching, specifically geared toward queer creatives.

What is Business & Lifestyle Coaching?

How many of these things would you like to be true for you?

  • Being able to set your own hours
  • Being able to take a sick day or mental health day without fear of repercussions. (Being honest, there are some days I can’t deal with physical people, the outside world, the noise, but if I have the freedom to stay safely inside with low lights in comfy clothes I can actually still be productive.)
  • Being able to travel without worrying about getting the time off approved. (I’ve had to miss more things than I can count and rearrange more plans because of not getting time off approved.)
  • Spending time enjoying your family, your life, and the world around you NOW instead of working towards a someday that may never come.
  • Seeing progress towards your goals – and knowing clearly what those goals are.
  • Feeling in control of your life, no matter the state of the world around you
  • Finding your own voice and being confident in expressing yourself

We all know and feel it – the world is on fire, and it’s easy to feel hopeless and out of control.

Regardless of what’s going on outside of ourselves, the truth is we get to choose how we show up in the world and how we react to it.

Let me help you find the balance, find your happiness and joy, and take control of your reactions. Become comfortable in your mind, your life, and your dreams. Stop playing small out of fear. Learn how to balance and integrate all the parts of your life and business to grow your confidence, your creativity, and your business/income.

Make the most of what you have and find a way to live your dreams today.

I work with queer creatives who struggle with goal setting, time management, imposter syndrome, fear and believing in themselves enough to pursue their creative passions and build a life where they are in control.

Why Coaching, and why for Queer Creatives especially?

I’ve always been the one in the supporting role, happy to avoid the spotlight and happy to watch others succeed while I stay back in the shadows. It’s the reason my focus changed from acting onstage to costuming. Well, that and my ridiculous passion for it long before I understood it was something I could actually do for work as well as fun.

I still love supporting. I love seeing people succeed and knowing I had a role in that. Heck, I feel pride in creative success whether I’ve ever helped them or not. Everyone who follows their passion is a person I’m proud of.

However, as we’ve grown Harrison’s business and I’ve started stepping out of the shadows, it was time to take things to the next level. I started seeing the need for a more whole-picture approach. I could help creatives with business tasks all day, but if they were still struggling with balancing time, unblocking creativity, and not knowing how to set goals or find a focus, that admin help won’t make any lasting change. As creatives in business for ourselves, we already are statistically more likely to struggle with self care and regulation and mindset. Add in everything that goes with being queer in today’s divisive political climate, and the struggles grow even more.

My favorite people to help are the creatives in geeky, nerdy, and fandom realms – such as those artists and creatives who vend at comic and pop culture conventions! I’m even more passionate about those creatives who, like me and my husband, are part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

As part of that community, now more than ever, it is apparent to me that there is a need for change in how we do EVERYTHING, and how to balance each part of our lives, from the creation and business to our emotional well-being and mental health and social life.

Blowing Up the Box

That’s why I’ve created Blowing Up the Box – I am here to help you build your whole creative life and take control of it and become an active participant. Stop letting life be something that just happens to you. Take the reigns wherever you can. You can’t control everything out there, but you CAN control how you react to it and interact with it.

I’m not here to promise freedom and total success. What I CAN promise is to share all the knowledge I have about business and taking control of your life and give you all the tools. I can promise passion and honesty about our struggles AND our successes.

The success is up to you. You can have all the tools and resources, but it’s what you do with them that determines the results. You have to do the work and put in the effort. I am here to walk the path with you and support you on that journey.

Let’s have less stress, more creativity.

Let’s build our own version of what life can be, without labels and categories.
